When Liberty finds an old note that leads to a lost treasure in the ocean, she and her friends decide to find it and figure out riddles along the way.
Chapter I[]
One bright summer day, Chase was in his Sea Patrol scuba gear, exploring the ocean floor. "I have to admit; this is impressive," he said. But he failed to notice that someone was following him.
As he checked out a shipwreck…
"Boo!"
Chase turned around and laughed in relief when he saw it was just his girlfriend, Liberty, in her merpup form. As her seashell gleamed in the water, Chase stared dreamily.
"You are so beautiful," he said softly.
Liberty blushed, the water softly rippling around her. "Oh, thank you, Chase."
They wanted to kiss, but it proved to be difficult because Chase would need to be breathe properly with his scuba helmet.
"We'd better get going," the German Shepherd sighed. "My oxygen is running low."
The couple headed up to the surface where Chase's boat was anchored.
——
"So, Chase, what did you find in that wreck?" Liberty asked her boyfriend once they dried off with their towels. The Long-Haired Dachshund changed back to her normal landpup self.
Then they took Chase's boat back to Adventure Beach.
"I barely started looking around that wreck when you surprised me~" Chase chuckled.
Liberty blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry about that."
"It's fine. I was running out of oxygen, anyway."
——
After putting his police boat away, Chase locked the beach tower. But just when he finished, something grabbed his collar…
YANK!
Chase suddenly found himself pulled towards Liberty, who immediately kissed him on the lips.
"Just because I can't kiss you underwater doesn't mean I can't kiss you on the surface," she giggled.
"Nope, it sure doesn't."
Then they left the beach together.
Chapter II[]
The next day, Liberty decided to take a dive and go down to the wreck herself. She invited Chase to have another go, but he decided to sit out this time. Liberty presumed he didn't want to run low on oxygen again.
When she stopped before the shoreline, she made sure no one was looking. Then she took a deep breath before diving into the ocean.
As she swam, her pup tag turned into her turquoise seashell, and her hind legs turned into her turquoise-and-pink fishtail. Ahead, she could see the shipwreck her boyfriend was about to start exploring the previous day.
"All right, let's see what we got here," she said to herself as she began exploring the wreck. She found a handle mirror for herself and her friends to share. She found something under the captain's desk.
"I wonder what…" she said to herself, slowly and carefully moving the desk.
It was an old sheet of paper.
She turned it around and…
"No way!" she gasped.
It was an old note.
The writing said: "You've found this note. So take a bow, your treasure hunt begins right now! Head to Puplantis, don't delay, Seek something round that gleams like day. Find it, and then you'll surely see, the next clue waiting patiently!"
"Awesome!" Liberty exclaimed. She couldn't wait to tell her friends the next morning.
Chapter III[]
After breakfast the next day, Skye and Everest, puzzled by Liberty's request to meet her at the beach, decided to go anyway.
"What's this about?" Skye asked.
"Well, yesterday, I was exploring a shipwreck," the Long-Haired Dachshund explained. "I found a small hand mirror for us to share." As she said this, she handed her friends the mirror.
Skye took the mirror and looked in it. "I never thought I looked so beautiful," she said softly, puffing up her fluffy ears.
Liberty and Everest snickered; they thought she wanted to look good especially in front of Marshall.
Skye, however, ignored them.
"That mirror's not the only I found, you know," Liberty continued after Skye gave it back. "I also found this." She showed them the note.
"Wow!" Skye said.
Liberty even showed her friends the writing.
"'You've found this note. So take a bow, your treasure hunt begins right now! Head to Puplantis, don't delay, Seek something round that gleams like day. Find it, and then you'll surely see, the next clue waiting patiently!'" Everest read the writing on the map.
Liberty placed a paw on her chin. "Something round, shiny, and in Puplantis," she pondered. Then she gasped. "The giant merpup pearls! They're shiny, round, and in Puplantis!"
Everest became worried. "But there are loads of pearls in Puplantis. It'll take forever to find the right one."
Skye knew she couldn't argue with that. "As long as we're in this together, we can do anything."
And so, the three girls jumped into the ocean, transformed, and swam to Puplantis, ready to find their second clue.
Chapter IV[]
Soon, Skye and her friends arrived in Puplantis.
"Come on," Skye said. "Let's go look for that pearl."
The three merpups entered the main palace and stopped before the pearl room.
Th walls of the room were lined from head to toe with big, beautiful pearls.
In the center of the room, on a tall pedestal, was a giant magical shell, which produces magic pearls for the merpups.
"Come on," Skye said. "Let's look for that second clue."
The three girls looked around for the right pearl. But none so far was the one they were looking for.
"I don't think the clue is anywhwere," Skye panted. "I've checked every pearl."
"So did I," Everest sighed.
"Same here," Liberty groaned.
Feeling like they need a hint, the three looked at the note. There was writing on the other side of it, which said, "Your journey now takes to the sky, where wonders shine and secrets lie. Look up high, don't miss the sight, where merpup pearls glow soft and bright. Find the gleam that calls to you, And there awaits your next clue!"
The girls immediately what that was. "The magical shell!"
The three swam up to the shell and found the second clue stuck in the shell's mouth. Carefully, they opened the shell. Then they took the note out and began reading it.
The note said: "You've found clue II—you're on your way. But now comes a challenge, should you stay? For far ahead, through rock and stone, a cave awaits, so dark, so alone. To enter, you must be bold, for secrets lurk in depths untold. Take a breath, then dare go through, And there you'll find your next clue! "
Liberty gulped. "I don't like the sound of that."
Everest saw a good teasing opportunity. "What's the matter? Chicken?"
"No, I'm not!" Liberty snapped in frustration over her friends' snickering. "I'm just… allergic to caves."
"Okay," Skye winked as she and Everest left. "Wait here until we return. And if a shark comes by and eats you for lunch, don't blame us."
"Sh-sh-sh-shark?! Lunch?!"
Liberty frantically looked around and finally moaned in defeat. "Wait up!" she wailed, swimming after Skye and Everest.
Chapter V[]
Soon, the three pups arrived at a cave not far from Puplantis.
"Hey, Liberty, since you want to prove you're not chicken, how about you go in first?" Skye teased.
"No, I'm not going in there," Liberty gulped, trying her best not to look like a fool, especially in front of her own friends.
Hey, how about we go in together?" Everest suggested.
Liberty felt a lot better after hearing that. "Okay, it's time we head in."
Bravely, the girls entered the cave and used their seashell tags as lamps. Simultaneously, the III of them slowly and carefully looked around to see if they could find their next clue.
Just then, Liberty noticed something in the sand. "I wonder what…?" she said to herself as she swam down to investigate. It looked like a glass bottle with a cork in the opening.
Gently, she removed the sand surrounding the bottle and carefully pulled it out of the hole. "Hey, guys! I think I found it!"
Skye and Everest swam up to Liberty, who had just carefully removed the note from the bottle.
The note said: "You've come so far—now don't delay, But this next clue hides high away. The task is tough, but here's the key: Friends can lift you—just wait and see! Like the sun that climbs the sky, Together, you’ll rise up high together. So reach above, be strong, be true, And there you'll find your next clue!"
Everest had an idea. "Maybe if we swim up to just below the surface of the ocean, maybe we can have a better shot!"
With that idea in mind, the three girls exited the cave and swam up to the surface.
